At a Glance
Kazakhstan holds vast natural resources and is Central Asia’s largest economy as the region’s leading wheat producer and exporter. Sustaining agricultural productivity is increasingly challenged by climate change trends of altered precipitation patterns and growing seasons and increased risk from pests and diseases. The country is subject to natural disasters and climate trends are expected to exacerbate these impacts, including droughts, heat waves, floods, mudflows, and landslides that are already responsible for land degradation, infrastructure damage, and loss of life.
